Baja 1000 best story in a long time. Kane Fraser, a paraplegic watched the “Dust to Glory” movie last year and said to himself “I can do that”. So he gets a UTV (Razer 900), pimps it out including hand controls and heads to Baja and the start line for the Baja 1000 2011. Out in front in the middle of the night he misses a turn and heads off towards the Mike’s section without doing the San Felipe loop! He figures out his mistake (awful fast race vehicles as of Trophy Trucks coming in FROM BEHIND), got an access road back to Valle de Trinidad and then the highway back to Borego. Cameron Steele prepares for 2011 SCORE Baja 1000
Exclusive coverage of Cameron Steele as he prepares for the gnarly 2011 SCORE Baja 1000 course! Join Cameron and his crew as they hop in the four-seat buggy and charge through some gnarly terrain and take a listen to the wisdom Cam has to share! As a Baja legend, Steele has a depth of knowledge and appreciation for the rugged Baja peninsula and is about to unleash it on race day. Starts and finishes on Blvd. Costero, adjacent to the Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center in Ensenada. From the start in Ensenada the course will go east to Ojos Negros for just over 35 miles which will be raced in both directions during the race. From Ojos Negros, the course will travel in a clockwise direction.
From Ojos Negros, the course turns South to El Alamo and then east up through the Summit and makes a South turn at Cohabuzo Junction and on to the the infamous Laguna Salada, paralleling Mexican Highway 5. San Felipe Challenge Of Champions
SCORE Announces New September Race Will Be Tecate SCORE San Felipe Challenge Of Champions. Insurance issues cause SCORE to move Primm race South of the Border. Tecate SCORE San Felipe Challenge of Champions desert race to be held in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico. SCORE International confirmed today that the next race of five-race 2011 SCORE Desert Series will be the new Tecate SCORE San Felipe Challenge of Champions to be held September 9-11 in San Felipe, Baja, California, Mexico. The race replaces the Primm 300 race that was cancelled this year because of insurmountable insurance issues.
The new race, for 17 Pro and 2 Sportsman classes for cars and trucks, will run over the same course that was recently used for this year’s MasterCraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 in March of approximately 250 miles. Read the rest of this entry »
SCORE Desert Series point standings
SCORE Desert Series points standing after round 2 (San Felipe 250) of five races for the 2011 SCORE Desert Series championship is close as veteran SCORE Trophy-Truck driver Jesse Jones and young gun unlimited Class 1 racer Justin Davis lead their respective classes and are tied at the top of SCORE point leader board. Colton Udall is leading the motorcycles points. Other leaders include Luke McMillin, Clyde Stacy, Justin Matney, Heidi Steele, Dan Chamlee, Elias Hanna, Perry McNeil, Jessica McMillin, Brandon Brown, Wes Bevly III & Wes Bevly IV. Desert Series points are based on starting, finishing, placement and number of official starters within each class. Jesse Jones, 45, of Litchfield Park, Ariz., and Justin Davis, 17 of Chino Hills, Calif., not only lead their respective classes following Round 2 of the Desert Series, they are tied for the SCORE Overall point lead with 139 point each. Breaking off-road news!! Danica Patrick and Cameron Diaz to team up for this year SCORE Baja 500 and Baja 1000 racing an all new Dodge – Fiat V10 Trophy Truck. Other noticeable developments at “SQD 2 Pi” – it is not a 100% female team only. During a scouting session down to Baja a destination management team member from Sprinter Rentals San Diego overheard a conversation that a former MX’er nick-named “Dogger” is responsible for the “chill-out” times and to calm situations before the race while James “Bubba” Steward may also join the team bringing in his unique road clearance capabilities as chase truck driver. It is not verified yet if red and blue lights are allowed in Mexico.
