SCORE Baja 1000 Peninsula Run

Exclusive coverage of Cameron Steele as he prepares for the gnarly 2011 SCORE Baja 1000 course! Join Cameron and his crew as they hop in the four-seat buggy and charge through some gnarly terrain and take a listen to the wisdom Cam has to share! As a Baja legend, Steele has a depth of knowledge and appreciation for the rugged Baja peninsula and is about to unleash it on race day. Starts and finishes on Blvd. Costero, adjacent to the Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center in Ensenada. From the start in Ensenada the course will go east to Ojos Negros for just over 35 miles which will be raced in both directions during the race. From Ojos Negros, the course will travel in a clockwise direction.

From Ojos Negros, the course turns South to El Alamo and then east up through the Summit and makes a South turn at Cohabuzo Junction and on to the the infamous Laguna Salada, paralleling Mexican Highway 5. There is never real been a Baja 250, it’s been always the Baja 250 I recall. The name changed for this year a little since MasterCraft Safety became a co-sponsor and it is now official the 24th Annual MasterCraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 in 2010. It’s a little long, that name, San Felipe 250 sure “flows” quicker in a conversation but ones got to respect the supporter of the sport. And for Robbie Pierce and MasterCraft to commit and sponsor the event deserves also the recognition within the baja races name. As pre-running over the rugged race course starts tomorrow, Saturday for next month’s 24th Annual MasterCraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250, a growing field, that includes many of North Americas best desert racers and a few internationals, have entered this popular spring race. Attracting entries from 22 states and eight countries, the lineup includes a race-record 34 entries in the Trophy-Truck class, the top league in SCORE desert off-road racing.
